Background in Midwifery, 33 years

Hello!

My name is Gordana Lemez. I am an IBCLC and a non-practicing Registered Midwife.

My experience comes from over 30 years in midwifery and Lactation, 19 years in Winnipeg Birth Centres, and 14 years in BIH, Sarajevo city. I delivered babies at SBH, Woman’s hospital, homes, and Birth Centre, and assisted many parents with lactation and infant feeding postdelivery.

Lactation/Breastfeeding/Chestfeeding and supplementing difficulties became my focus when I had my firstborn in 1984. I thought I was well-educated, informed, and prepared. However, when I had my firstborn, I realized it was not so straightforward. Now, I understand that infant feeding human milk can be undermined by many factors, social pressure, judgments, lack of support, mode of birth, cultural approach, conflicting advice, etc. My approach is in identifying those factors together, so you can feel more comfortable with a new change, trusting your instincts and your intuition.

I would like to share with you, not only what I learned from midwifery & lactation practice but also the knowledge my clients taught me and still do.
